The investment committee is chaired by Ali Mufuruki. He currently serves on a number of boards, including the Board of Trustees – ATMS Foundation, Amsterdam, Netherlands; TechnoServe Inc., Washington DC, United States America; Enablis East Africa, Nairobi, Kenya, (Chairman); Wananchi Group Holdings Ltd, Nairobi, Kenya (Chairman); and Mandela Institute of Development Studies, Johannesburg, South Africa (founding trustee). Ali’s other engagements enhance the breadth of experience that he brings to the Investment Committee. These include: founding partner of East Africa Capital Partners (EACP), with over US$ 180 million under management; founding chairman of The CEOs’ Roundtable of Tanzania; and founding chairman of Air Tanzania Company Ltd.
Ali has served on numerous boards including the Tanzania Central Bank 2008 to 2011 (Chairman of Audit Committee); Stanbic Bank, Tanzania Limited; Geita Gold Mining Ltd, Mwananchi Communications Ltd (Board chairman); Nation Media Group of Kenya (Chairman of REMCO); and TPS Eastern Africa Ltd (Kenya). He is a Henry Crown Fellow of The Aspen Institute Class of 2001 and a founder and chairman of The Africa Leadership Initiative, East Africa. Ali holds a qualification in Mechanical Engineering Design from the Fachhochschule fuer Wirtschaft und Technologie in Reutlingen, Germany.
