Michael Jansa

Michael Jansa is a Managing Director and Founding Partner of Emerging Capital Partners (ECP). Having raised over $2.5 billion for investment, ECP is a leading private equity manager focused exclusively on Africa. As a Managing Director, Mr. Jansa manages existing Funds II and III investments through to exit and acts as a senior advisor to the investment team.

Prior to joining ECP in 2000, Mr. Jansa was a Vice President of GE Capital’s Structured Finance Group, where his responsibilities included management of the firm’s $580 million investment fund focused on emerging market power investments. In this capacity, he analyzed, valued, and recommended various equity and debt investments and joint ventures in the energy sectors.

Before joining GE Capital in 1995, Mr. Jansa was a Director of Financial Planning at Q2 Resource Television, an early-stage online retailer in New York. He began his career by spending nine years with Union Pacific Corporation where he became Manager of the Corporate Finance Group.

Mr. Jansa received an MBA from the London Business School and a BBA in Accounting from Iowa State University. He has served on the board of the PanAfrican Energy Corporation (Mauritius), NCT Necotrans (Pan Africa), Somdiaa (Central Africa), Ocean & Oil (Nigeria) and Wentworth Resources (East Africa), and he currently serves on the board of Notore Chemical Industries (Nigeria).
